When I started to practice living alone for a few days, I faced a lot of trouble as I was unable to leave my phone alone. Well, it took time, but I did that. If you have a phone with you while living alone, your mind will force you to pick up the phone and start texting to anyone. So, you need to control this. When you are alone, just switch it off and don’t look at your phone for one to two hours. Utilize that time to understand how it feels to be alone and connect yourself with you. Let me tell you a simple trick to make it easier for you. During such time, you can write down the things that you would love to do whenever you are alone. Give it a try.
Try and Try and Try, But For Somedays Don’t Use Social Media
Well, I am not saying that social media is a completely bad thing. For some, this is a source of happiness, and it connects people with others. But if you think checking out your messages or notifications makes you sad, then don’t use the platform for a while. A lot of people post different things on these platforms. But I have seen people posting unnecessary things just to create an impression. This, in turn, can make you feel sad. So, go on and stay away from the social media platform for around 48 hours. If you feel any difference, then fix a daily limit for using social media, such a 15 to 30 minutes, and stick to it.
Try to spend your time with no music, podcasts, internet, television and of course, phone. Hold on! I am not saying that you should completely stop using all these things. What I am trying to say is you should set a limit for everything. While not using these things, find a comfortable place in your house and lie down. Darken your room slightly and close your eyes. Now, you need to allow your mind to flow, to wander. Wait for a few minutes and see where your mind takes you. Just keep doing this for a few days, and you will experience a superb sense of freedom and happiness.
Pamper Yourself By Going on a Self-date
It may sound a little strange, but you should do it. It’s your life, and if you can date others, why can’t you take yourself on a date? You may find it a little daunting, but you can start by sitting in a café for around 15 minutes. Gradually, you will start feeling comfortable with this, and you won’t feel bad while going alone. Besides, if you have a two-wheeler or four-wheeler, then take it out and go on a long drive alone. You will feel just amazing.
Develop The Skill Of Forgiveness
The act of forgiveness is very rare, and not all people have this quality. But, to live a happy life, you have to develop this. Besides offering happiness, this can also help in lowering your depression as well as anxiety level. You don’t have to do anything special for this. How about writing a letter of forgiveness? That will work great. Pick up a pen now and draft your first forgiveness letter now. Well, don’t prefer to use your phone or computer to send an email. Remember that you are learning how to stay happy while living alone. And you are taking a break from using these things.
Let Nature Welcomes You
While spending your life alone, go outside and have a walk in your house backyard or in the park. Feel the sounds, absorb the views, witness the true smell of nature, and let the cold wind make your feel fresh. With this, you won’t find living alone much challenging. Now, the best thing is, by spending around 30 minutes and more per week in nature, you can reduce the blood pressure as well as depression level. This is a great way to bring a unique happiness into your life.
Go On and Make A Future Plan
Where do you want to see yourself after six years? Is there anything that you want to accomplish in your life? What should you do to fulfill your goals? These are the things that you can think about during such time. Write down these things, and it can help you to move towards your decision. People say we should live our today, and forget about tomorrow. But sometimes it is good to have a plan for tomorrow as it will make you feel that you have achieved something today.
